Finally, the rice planting season has arrived!
Popular rice-planting bento
In the earlier areas of Hokuryu Town, rice planting work started around May 15 (Friday). An essential part of this rice planting season is the "rice-planting lunch box"!
The restaurant that has received numerous orders within Hokuryu Town is "Shokudo Mukohi" (restaurant).
On Saturday, May 16, during the rice-planting lunchbox season, we covered the lively activities at the restaurant.

Some days we receive more than 100 cases a day.
This year, perhaps influenced by the spread of the new coronavirus, the number of orders for boxed lunches on the first day was half that of last year. Nevertheless, the number of orders over the approximately half-month period of this rice planting season exceeds 1,000. On a few days, there are 40 to 50 orders, and on many days, there are over 100 orders.
On the day of the visit, cooking begins before 6:00 a.m. and by 10:00 a.m. the food is ready for delivery. Part-time staff members also help out. On that day, 43 orders were received, including boxed lunches and rice bowls.
Bento Menu
Three types of bento boxes are available: A (650 yen), B (750 yen), and C (850 yen). For side dishes only without rice, each is discounted 100 yen.

That day's lunch was filled with side dishes such as fried dumplings, shrimp, salmon, fried noodles, egg rolls, meatballs with starchy sauce, vermicelli salad, etc.!

Various rice bowls are also available. The orders of the day were "Katsu-don", "Ton-don", and "Karaage-don"!

Lunch delivery starts at 10:00 a.m!

On this day, we had an order from Numata Town, so we started from Numata Town in the far district. By 11:30, the delivery was complete. Then we start our lunch service.

Supporting farmers with nutritious lunches
During this busy farming season, farmers are at their busiest and most mentally and physically demanding. The hard work is physically exhausting and requires nutritional support.
Our customers look forward to their daily bento, so we take care to vary our daily bento menu as much as possible.
Also, we offer a free serving of rice to customers who request a large serving of rice," says Yuko Sato, the customer-oriented wife of the restaurant's owner.
We are grateful and deeply appreciative of the many people who order and support us during this time of year. I will do my best to be of service to everyone and meet their expectations," said Mitsuo Sato, owner of the store.
