Wa Neighborhood Association Senior Citizens Club "Reiwa 7 Environmental Cleanup (Garbage Collection)"
About 25 members participated on a gloomy, cold day with temperatures between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius, strong winds, and occasional rain.
This joint cleanup activity by the Wa neighborhood association involves picking up trash along town and prefectural roads (2km each way), which takes about an hour round trip.
Bring garbage bags and fire tongs
Participants brought their own garbage bags and fire tongs and collected garbage, cans, pieces of wood, etc. that had fallen on banks and irrigation ditches.
Despite being on the side of a rice field and on a sloped bank, the participants moved around lightly and quickly to pick up trash! As expected!
Encountering the budding of spring
Along the way, we were moved by the sights of cherry blossom buds beginning to swell, clusters of horsetails, Adonis flowers that herald the happiness of spring, and spring buds bursting with vitality!!!
I was amazed at the overwhelming vitality of the butterbur sprouts, which grew sturdily through the asphalt!!!
Carefully separate the garbage
The collected garbage was carefully separated into burnable garbage, non-burnable garbage, glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles, etc. Numerous garbage bags were loaded into the bed of a light truck.
Mayor Yasuhiro Sasaki also participated as a member of the neighborhood association senior citizens' club. We are extremely grateful for his dedication to beautifying the town, despite his busy schedule and on his day off.
Drinks and pastries will be distributed
After cleaning, everyone gathered together. Thank you for your hard work!
Drinks and sweet bread were distributed to everyone who participated, and the event was then dismissed.
Dispose of on garbage collection day
Each collected garbage bag is temporarily stored in the member's storeroom and then disposed of on the local garbage collection day.
With boundless love, gratitude, and prayers, we would like to express our gratitude to the members of the local senior citizens' club who cooperate harmoniously and joyfully with each other and actively work to beautify the environment, aiming for a clean, litter-free town.
