Giving thanks and prayers for the bamboo grass sushi at the Autumn Festival!

Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Monday, September 9 is the autumn festival of the Hokuryu-cho Shinryu Shrine.

Every year at this time, Mr. and Mrs. Kitajima, our neighbors, make by hand sasabushi!
Thankfully, we were able to share some of their heart-felt sasabushi with them!
Thank you!

Mr. and Mrs. Kitajima visit nearby mountains to select and collect firm bamboo leaves, which are then sterilized and preserved.

Pressed sushi with vinegared mackerel and salmon, with sterilizing bamboo leaves and vinegared rice, is refreshing, nutritious, and preservative-rich!

We cherish and enjoy this delicious dish, thankful for the bounty and bountiful harvest of autumn and praying for good health and good fortune!
