The late Takeshi Matsunaga, former Hokuryu Town Councilor, who passed away on November 2 last year, received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, a special decoration.
Mr. Matsunaga has been a Hokuryu Town Council member for 32 years since 1991, contributing greatly to the promotion of local autonomy. During that time, he also served as vice chairman for four years from April 2007, and made great efforts in council administration.
At the presentation ceremony held on February 19 in the Mayor's office, Mayor Sano delivered the speech and handed the decoration and the medal to the relatives of the deceased.
On the same day, the late Mr. Matsunaga's relatives donated 1,000,000 yen to the town as a token of their appreciation for all the help he had given to the town.
