The Hokkaido Shimbun Digital website, operated by the Hokkaido Shimbun newspaper (Sapporo), has published an article (dated December 31st) entitled "Concerns over 'shortage of candidates' for mayoral elections in 2024 in 34 cities and towns in Hokkaido," which we would like to introduce to you.
The article states, "The voting dates for the mayoral elections have already been decided in at least 15 of the 34 cities, towns and villages. Of these, two towns are currently expected to hold elections: Hokuryu Town in the Sorachi District, where voting will take place on February 4th, and Matsumae Town in the Oshima District, where voting will take place on March 24th."
