On Friday, July 26, the "Sorachi Scenic Byway Caravan" organized by the Hokkaido Development Bureau visited Hokuryu Town and Numata Town in the Northern Sorachi District. The "Sorachi Scenic Byway - Experience the Future Road -" was held. Mayor Yasuhiro Sasaki of Hokuryu Town also participated in the event.

Sorachi Scenic Byway - The Physical Future Road - Sorachi Scenic Byway
The Hokkaido Development Bureau launched Scenic Byways Hokkaido in 2005 (Heisei 17) to create an attractive tourist space. There are 13 scenic byways and 2 candidate routes in Hokkaido, and approximately 400 organizations are involved in these activities.
The Sorachi Scenic Byway will operate on a main route of distinctive national highways that travel through the jurisdictions of 10 cities and 14 towns, the Hokkaido Expressway that runs north to south, and two rivers, the Ishikari River and the Sorachi River.
The Sorachi Scenic Byway is operated under the slogan "Sorachiing/Soratching," which is an ongoing effort to connect people with each other. 22 organizations in 10 cities and 14 towns are participating in the Sorachi Scenic Byway. In 2024, the Hokuryu Town Sunflower Tourism Association joined the Sorachi Scenic Byway.

In Hokuryu Town, as an event to experience the Sunflower Festival, participants will take part in the "Junior High School Students' Guide to Sunflowers Around the World". After visiting Sunflower Village, have lunch at Roadside Station Sunflower Park Hokuryu Onsen. After that, we will move to Numata Town by bus.
In Numata Town, the group visited the Numata Fossil Museum, Moe-no-oka, the Snow Science Museum, and "Yumekuru" (Numata Town Lifelong Learning Center).

- Fieldwork: Tour of Hokuryu Town and Numata Town
Experience the Hokuryu Town Sunflower Festival (participate in and observe a guide of sunflowers from around the world given by junior high school students)
Lunch will be served at Sunflower Hokuryu Restaurant "Windmill" at Roadside Station.
In the afternoon, visit Numata Town to see the Numata Fossil Museum, Moe-no-oka, Snow Science Museum, and "Yumekuru" (Numata Town Lifelong Learning Center). - information exchange
