The Hokuryu-cho Tourist Association was established on July 4, 1972, with Mr. Yoshio Komatsu as its chairman. The basic projects of the tourism association at the time of its establishment were as follows

The main activity of the Tourism Association at that time was the holding of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Kompirayama Park, which was held until the 2nd Cherry Blossom Festival in 1991. In addition, the Tourism Association held a flower-filled campaign and a flowerbed contest as part of its environmental beautification activities.
