Aiming to enhance the brand power of sake and sake rice produced in Hokkaido
The "Sake Made with Hokkaido Rice Award 2023" has been held since fiscal year 2021 with the aim of raising awareness of the brand power of Hokkaido sake and Hokkaido sake rice, and to help recover the declining demand for sake (this year will be the third time the award has been held).Reference: Award 2023 Secretariat HP(See Section 2.1.2.).
The judging was held on September 12 (for professionals, distributors, and restaurants) and September 18 (for the general public), and a total of 293 Hokkaido residents judged the seven award-winning sake products, including the Grand Prix.Reference: Homepage of Agricultural Products Promotion Division, Production Promotion Bureau, Hokkaido Agricultural Administration Department(See Section 2.1.2.).
All rice grown with varieties bred in Hokkaido
In addition, the following conditions are imposed on the exhibitorCitation: 2023 Hokkaido Sake Promotion Proposal(See Section 2.1.2.).
- Junmai-shu" (excluding junmai-shu with a milling ratio of 50% or less) must be made entirely from rice of a variety bred in Hokkaido and grown in Hokkaido.
- The cost should be no more than 2,500 yen without tax for a 4-goupe bottle. However, the secretariat will pay up to 2,000 yen without tax.
- Sake that can continue to be sold in Hokkaido for a certain period of time after the award ends (online stores of the company are also acceptable)
- Efforts should be made to disseminate information from the brewery via website, SNS, etc. at a time to be notified by the secretariat.
