On Wednesday, June 11th, a broadcast interview by Agri Kingdom Hokkaido NEXT (Hokkaido Broadcasting Corporation, HBC) on the sunflower watermelon farming in Hokuryu Town was conducted at Takada Corporation (representative: Takada Shunki).

When the children eat the food and say it's delicious, it makes all the hard work for my husband and all of us on the staff soothe, and gives us the motivation to keep working hard!
President Takada's enthusiasm
The number of producers is decreasing, but new farmers are now starting to cultivate. The cultivation area is gradually increasing. We have created a training farm, and currently three trainees are studying hard. We are also constantly recruiting and making efforts to increase the number of young producers.
In the long history of sunflower watermelon, it is my sincere hope that while preserving the historical cultivation methods, it will also continue to evolve and move forward.
We hope that sunflower watermelon will become one of Hokuryu Town's top specialty products in the future.
