On Tuesday, June 21st, the summer solstice, residents of Hokuryu Town worked to mow and thin out the sunflowers at Sunflower Village.
As the great rays of the summer solstice sun pour down, the residents of Hokuryu Town mow and thin out the weeds, carrying out their work with deep love and sincerity for the adorable sunflowers that are growing healthily.
The event will be held over three days, June 21st (Tuesday), 22nd (Wednesday), and 23rd (Thursday), for two hours each in the morning and afternoon (9:30-11:30, 13:30-15:30). A total of about 140 volunteers from Hokuryu Town's neighborhood associations and senior citizens' clubs have signed up to participate over the three days.

Approximately 60 people participated in the morning session on the first day.
[Additional note] Due to rain, both the morning and afternoon sessions on June 23rd (Thursday) were cancelled. The total number of participants on both June 21st (Tuesday) and 22nd (Wednesday) was 115 (Hokuryu Town Tourism Association).
As the summer solstice sun poured down, we worked silently and earnestly, sometimes in a friendly atmosphere...
