On Wednesday, August 14th, from 8:30am, the watermelon direct sale event "Hokuryu Town Melon and Watermelon Festival 2024" was held in front of the sorting facility of the agricultural product collection and shipping facility of the JA Kitasorachi Hokuryu Branch. Many people attended and it was a great success!

Watermelon direct sales event "Hokuryu Town Melon and Watermelon Festival 2024"
The 330 boxes of watermelons prepared were almost sold out within 30 minutes of the start of direct sales!
Sweet sunflower watermelon with a sugar content of 12 degrees
This year's watermelons have a sugar content of 12 degrees, which is above average and is the sweetest we've seen in recent years.
Sunflower watermelon: 6 excellent watermelons, 4,500 yen per box, 5 excellent watermelons, 4,800 yen per box
Sold individually: 1 piece - 500 yen, 3 pieces - 1,300 yen

At the lottery venue, the grand prize (gold) was a whopping 5kg of sunflower rice "Yumepirika" and two sunflower watermelons!
Five 1,000 yen tickets will be enough to enter the lottery once!

Mayor Sasaki also came to offer words of encouragement and interacted with the visitors!
A lively conversation took place with Mayor Sasaki Yasuhiro, JA Kitasorachi Regional Representative Director Nagai Minoru, and honorary town resident Kikura Ryoji (former JA Kitasorachi Representative Director and Union Chairman).
