Sunflower Festival and Permanent Programs

❂ Programs held during the Sunflower Festival. Please note that vehicles are prohibited from entering the Himawari Village during the festival.

Himawari Tourist Guide (Himawari no Sato Tourist Information Center)

• Hokuryu Town Senior Citizens Club, run by the Voluntary Association

Fundraising to help grow beautiful sunflowers

• Inside Himawari Tourist Information Center & Himawari Tourist Center
• Those who donate 100 yen or more will receive a gift of sunflower seeds.

Jumbo Maze (near the observation deck)

• The entrance is near the observation deck
• The letters on the maze change every year (in 2024 it will be "HOHOEMI")
  (Installed by Hokuryu Town's town revitalization volunteer group "Ryutopia")
• Required time: 15 to 30 minutes
• Includes a stamp rally and a sunflower maze quiz
  Inside the maze there is a "Sunflower Maze Quiz <The total length of the maze is 1,000m>". The hint is inside the maze.

・Individuals: 300 yen/person, groups of 10 or more: 200 yen/person

Daiwa Sunflower Maze (near Aigamo Pond)

• The entrance is near Aigamo Pond
• The words on the maze read "Hokuryu Sunflowers"

・Individuals: 300 yen/person, groups of 10 or more: 200 yen/person

Sightseeing car "Himawari"

• Tractor-towing roofed cabin
• We depart whenever customers arrive
• One lap around Himawari no Sato takes approximately 12 minutes (no stops along the way)
• During the journey, an explanatory guide will be played on the bus about Hokuryu Town and the sunflowers.
• Even those with small children, the elderly, or those with limited leg strength can walk around Himawari no Sato.

・Adults 500 yen/person, children 300 yen/person, groups of 7 or more: adults 400 yen/person, children 200 yen/person

It travels around Hokuryu Town's Himawari no Sato at a speed of 6 km/h, taking about 12 minutes to complete one lap.

The driver is Hokuryu town resident Shuji Ito, and his wife Hisayo is the attendant.
Mr. Ito's father had been using a horse-drawn carriage since the first Sunflower Festival (1987), but Mr. Ito's generation switched to tractors.

The uniform consists of a straw hat and a yellow T-shirt with a sunflower print.
The extremely popular Himawari-go can depart even with just one person. Dogs are also welcome!

Sunflowers from around the world

• Cultivated by students of Hokuryu Town Hokuryu Junior High School
• Rare sunflowers from around the world (24 varieties in 2023)
• For two days during the Sunflower Festival, students from Hokuryu Junior High School will act as "sunflower guides" and introduce sunflowers from around the world to tourists.
