"Eat Lunch Together" with the first and second graders of Shinryu Elementary School - Board of Education, Superintendent Tanaka Yoshiki, and all related parties!

Monday, May 19, 2025

On Wednesday, May 14th, Shinryu Elementary School invited members of the Board of Education (including Chairman Tanaka) to join the first and second grade students for lunch.

On that day, before lunch, the first graders had a matching game class, and the second graders had a life studies class where they explored the town and made a map of Kitaryū town.

1st grade class: Matching game

The "Matching Game" for first graders is a game-like learning experience designed to help develop counting skills and memory.

Cards with upside-down pictures are lined up on the blackboard, and students choose which one is from the right (left), turn the card over, and if the picture is the same, they win!

Each student was assigned a building, and they were asked to draw a picture of the place they were going to visit using colored pencils on a small piece of paper. They discussed the picture together and pasted it on the map.

Lunch duty

Lunch duty is decided for students from the first grade onwards. This helps them develop a sense of responsibility, cooperation and independence.

The students on duty wore colorful aprons and hats and served the food. They were divided into a "carrying and serving group" and a "distribution group."

The student on duty carefully pours the soup, side dishes (main and side dishes), and rice (or noodles) into the dishes, distributes the side dishes, and slowly places milk, straws, etc. at each table.

Delicious food and fun conversation

"I love ramen!"
"Do you like miso ramen or soy sauce?"
"Let's put croquette side dishes into ramen and make croquette ramen!"
"The croquette is big, so we'll share half!"
"XX always finishes his meal! That's amazing!"
"I'm so full! It was delicious!"

The students eat only what they can comfortably eat and enjoy a delicious lunch time.

Lunchtime is conducted at a relaxed pace within the allotted time, without any pressure to leave food or finish by a certain time.

Lunch time ended with the students on duty shouting, "Attention!" and "Thank you for the meal!"

Even the first-year students were assigned a duty, and they all followed the rules strictly and performed their roles well!!!

With boundless love, gratitude and prayers, we offer school lunches, an important time for children to enjoy delicious and enjoyable food that will help them grow healthy both physically and mentally.
