The "2025 Environmental Beautification Cleanup (Garbage Collection)" was carried out by the Kitaryū Town Yawara Neighborhood Association Senior Citizens' Club (Chairman Kanayama Nobuyuki) from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th.
Wa Neighborhood Association Senior Citizens Club "2025 Environmental Clean-up (Garbage Collection)"
On a gloomy, cold day with temperatures between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius, strong winds and occasional rain, about 25 members participated.
This joint cleanup activity by the Wa neighborhood association involves picking up trash along town and prefectural roads (2km one way), which takes about an hour round trip.
Bring garbage bags and fire tongs
Each participant brought a garbage bag and fire tongs and collected garbage, cans, pieces of wood, etc. that had been left on banks and in irrigation ditches.
Even though they were beside rice fields and on a sloped bank, the participants moved around lightly and quickly to pick up trash! They were amazing!
Encountering the budding of spring
Along the way, I was moved by the sights of cherry blossom buds beginning to swell, clusters of horsetails, Adonis flowers heralding the happiness of spring, and spring buds bursting with vitality!!!
I was amazed at the overwhelming vitality of the butterbur sprouts as they grew vigorously through the asphalt!!!
Separate garbage carefully and thoroughly
The collected trash was carefully sorted into burnable trash, non-burnable trash, bottles, cans, PET bottles, etc. Numerous garbage bags were loaded into the back of a light truck.
Mayor Yasuhiro Sasaki also participated as a member of the neighborhood association senior citizens club. We are very grateful to him for taking time out of his busy schedule to help beautify the town, even on his day off.
Drinks and pastries provided
After the cleanup, everyone gathers. Thank you all for your hard work!
Drinks and pastries were distributed to all participants and the event was dismissed.
Dispose of on garbage collection day
Each collected garbage bag is temporarily stored in the member's storeroom and then disposed of on the local garbage collection day.
