Hekisui Neighborhood Association Elderly Club “Hekisui Chomeikai” New Year Party
About 20 members participated, and everyone came together to start the new year in a cheerful and lively atmosphere.

"Happy New Year. As we welcome the new year, I would like to ask for your continued support this coming year.
Today, for the first event, we have invited Mr. and Mrs. Terauchi.
Last August, the "Sorachi District Kita Sorachi District Small Block Training Session" was held in Hokuryu Town, attended by leaders of the Senior Citizens' Club Federations from one city and five towns in the Kita Sorachi District. In the training lecture, Mr. Terauchi spoke about the activities of Hokuryu Town, especially about the town's elderly care and public facilities, and about the Hokuryu Town Portal that he runs.
I think it deeply moved many people, and it also gave me a new perspective, as I was surprised to see that something like this was happening in Hokuryu Town.
"Today, I would like everyone to take another look at the introduction to Hokuryu Town that Mr. and Mrs. Terauchi are sending out to the world, and to gain a new understanding of the town. Thank you Mr. Terauchi for responding to our request so early in the new year. I look forward to listening to the presentation, so I look forward to working with you," said Chairman Kawada.

"Happy New Year everyone.
At the regular general meeting held at the end of December last year, I was appointed as the neighborhood association president, so I would like to ask for your continued support throughout the year.
Last year was a hot year. There was a rice shortage, which was a bit of a surprise, but in the fall there was a bumper crop. What's more, rice prices were at their highest in 30 years, so it was a happy year for farmers.
This year is the year of the snake, which is said to be a year of repeated regeneration and growth. Snakes are disliked by many people because of their appearance, but in Shinto, they are considered one of the animals to be thanked for as messengers of the gods. Furthermore, because they grow by shedding their skin, they are a symbol of immortality.
I hope that everyone in the neighborhood association will be in good health throughout the year. I would like to conclude my greetings by praying for your good health, happiness, and a bountiful harvest throughout the year.

"Hokuryu Town in Kita Sorachi, Hokkaido is a town of about 1,600 residents who cherish the spirit of 'food is life' and provide safe and secure food. The Hokuryu Town Portal is now in its 15th year since it was started by a husband and wife team. The site shares through text, photos and videos the emotions they feel towards the 'spirit of harmony, compassion and joy' that the people of Hokuryu encounter in their daily lives.
