Mayor Sasaki Yasuhiro visited Kitaryu Junior High School to offer his support to Yoshida Natsuki, who participated as a Hokkaido representative athlete.

"You did your best at the Kochi Prefectural tournament this time. This is a present from Daddy Long Legs to show your support," said Yoshida Natsuki, as she was handed the gift of support.

"Women's baseball is popular in Hokkaido, and there is the Kuriyama High School women's baseball team, so set high goals and do your best. We are always watching over you," he encouraged.

We spoke with Natsuki Yoshida

"I started playing baseball in the winter of my first year of elementary school. I think the reason I started playing baseball was because of the influence of my older brother and the people around me.

I played shortstop in the selection tournament. Baseball is a lot of fun. Each of the nine players has a role, and it's fun to play together as one team and cooperate with each other.

My favorite baseball player is Nishikawa Haruki (Tokyo Yakult Swallows).

"I haven't decided what I want to do in the future. I'm going to think about it carefully," says Yoshida Natsuki, speaking clearly and with a gentle smile.

Shinryu Elementary School Class Observation

Afterwards, the group moved to Shinryu Elementary School, where they observed classes being held for first, fifth, and sixth graders on Open Day.

  • Target shooting game (a game where you throw handmade balls to hit cardboard targets)

Play areas (play spots) installed in the hallways

On the landing, there is a games corner with a physical fitness corner (side jumping), a strikeout game, a darts game, a handmade basketball goal (shooting basket), and more, all of which are handmade by the students.

About two years ago, teachers and students started setting up the playground to make effective use of the empty space. It's a dreamlike playground where everyone can freely participate and enjoy various games during their breaks!

Mayor Sasaki was deeply interested, amazed and impressed as he toured the site.
