The kokwa is ripe! I immediately visited the Nakajima family's natural garden to hear her happy words of encouragement!

Kokuwa in Nakajima Family Natural Garden

Mr. Nakajima planted a kokuwa tree in the ground more than 10 years ago, which was shared by a friend of his!

Supported by iron pipes, it is growing big and fine!

Kokuwa is a species of kiwifruit

The wild kokwa (monkey pear), also known as baby kiwi, is the original kiwifruit.

Kokuwa (monkey pear) is a deciduous vine plant classified in the family Mataphyllaceae. It is also called "monkey pear" because monkeys like to eat it, mistaking it for a pear.

The ripe fruit is very sweet and juicy! They are meltingly soft and can be eaten with the skin!

Small Kiwifruit

When cut in half, they are like little kiwi fruits!

The kiwifruit's native species, kokwa, is considered a valuable tree fruit that is difficult to obtain because of its low fertility.
