In July 1963, the park was designated as Shotsambetsu Provincial Park, and a tourism association was established, stimulated by the establishment of a tourism association in the neighborhood.

The Sandan-no-taki waterfall in this park was opened as a 13-km mountain climbing road from 1967 to Uryu-numa via Sandoge (the boundary between Hokuryu Town and Masuge Town on Route 94, Masuge Inada Line) as a new sightseeing mountain climbing road project over a two-year period from 1967. Furthermore, in 1990, the area was designated as Shotsamubetsu-dake Amouri-Yakishiri National Quasi-Park. The natural beauty of the area is widely promoted as a tourist resource of the town.

It used to be possible to drive in to the Iwana stream located 2.4 km from the trail entrance, but a cliff collapse on the trail in the national forest has made it impassable, and now the only way to reach this unexplored area is by walking 3.2 km along the Huetai-betsu River. Discussions with Hokuryu Town, Uryu Town, and the Forest Office are scheduled to be held in the future.
