On the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Hokuryu Tourism Association
With the support of many people, the Hokuryu-cho Sunflower Tourist Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022.
Looking back over the past 50 years, we are pleased to publish the "50th Anniversary of the Hokuryu-cho Sunflower Tourist Association". We would like to express our deep respect and gratitude for the cooperation of the Mayor of the town and everyone involved.
Our association was established in 1972. At that time, the main business of the Tourism Association was the holding of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Kompira Park, which was held until the 22nd festival in 1991.
In 1987, the first Sunflower Festival, which is now the association's main project, was held at the Hokuryu Agricultural Cooperative, and it has been held 37 times until this fiscal year. The Sunflower Festival has grown to attract more than 200,000 visitors every year, thanks to the efforts of successive board members and other members, as well as the great understanding and cooperation of the citizens of the town.
Tourism needs have changed dramatically as lifestyles have changed in the wake of the new coronavirus. One of the major changes in the coronavirus is the way people work remotely. New styles of travel, where people work even when traveling, have emerged, and the way people interact with people and communities has become more diverse. In the future, it will be important to be involved in multifaceted community development that is close to people and society. We are fully aware of the importance of this and will continue to promote tourism.
In conclusion, I would like to extend my sincere wishes for the health and development of all those involved, and to offer my greetings on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the company's founding.
