The projection mapping images were created by seven third- and fourth-year students of the Department of Media Studies under the guidance of Associate Professor Keitaro Oshima and Associate Professor Dai Kawahara of the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Hokkaido University of Information Sciences (Ebetsu City). The images are repeatedly projected on the wall of the building of Sunflower Park Hokuryu, a roadside station, for 12 minutes in one school.

The video content includes powerful animations of girls beating taiko drums to the sound of taiko drums, 360-degree camera and drone images of the Himawari no Sato and Hokuryu-cho spring, summer, fall, and winter scenery, and shadow puppet-like images with a music box melody playing the junior high school school song.

It was the first snowfall of the day in Hokuryu Town, and it was a very cold night.
The magnificent fusion of wonderful sounds, great images, and paintings on the building walls will captivate your heart for 12 minutes!

A night time to drown.

The members have changed since last year, so the video has a different feel to it. It is a very interesting video with 3DCG of Saki Himawari.

In addition, as a new attempt, we are making a video using the Hokuryu Junior High School school song. I believe this is the first and only attempt to make a video to the school song. We hope you will enjoy all of them.

I think all the students did a great job creating it," he said.

Last year we held this event in October, but this year it was cold in November, and we were worried about the first snowfall today, but the snow has stopped.

As a member of the Regional Development Cooperation Team, I would like to propose and promote things that have never been done in Hokuryu Town before," he said.

Students of Hokkaido University of Information Sciences preparing for the projection

Hokkaido University of Information Science and Technology students arrived in Hokuryu-cho around 2:00 p.m. on the day of the event and prepared for the 5:00 p.m. projection.

A word from the students of the Media Department of Hokkaido University of Information Sciences

  • Created an animation of a girl beating a drum.
  • This time, we used a technique called motion graphics to create it.
(Motion graphics are animated images that add movement to illustrations and text.)
  • Motion was created by combining live-action video and scale.
  • We created a video using AI.
  • Spring, summer, fall, and winter images of Hokuryu Town were shot by 360-degree cameras and drones.
  • We have tried to visualize a song that is familiar to everyone in Hokuryu Town, so please watch it with a nostalgic feeling!
  • I made a 3D version of the Hokuryu-cho character, Sunflower Saki, and put it in the video. We are very happy if you enjoy it!
