The 2023 Shinryu Shrine Autumn Festival in Hokuryu Town was held for three days from Friday, September 8th to Sunday, September 10th.

Hokuryu Town “Reiwa 5 Shinryu Shrine Autumn Festival”
Shinryu Shrine
This festival celebrates the bountiful harvest of autumn and offers prayers of thanks to the gods for their protection and the blessings of nature.
During the procession of the portable shrine, lion dances are performed at each shrine.

Dedication entertainment
- As a dedication entertainment, a "Town Karaoke Festival" and a "Park Golf Tournament" were held.

Sand (sai sand), green bamboo, shimenawa and paper streamers
The place where the mikoshi is set up is made into a pure place to welcome the gods by piling up sand (saisuna), erecting green bamboo at the four corners of the festival grounds, and attaching paper streamers to the shimenawa rope.
Shinsen: offerings made to the gods
Rice, sake, rice cakes, dried foods (kelp), vegetables (radish, cucumber, carrot, Chinese cabbage, cabbage, watermelon), fruits (apple, pear, banana), salt, water, sweets (manju).

After the worship, a brave lion dance was performed.

It is said that if a lion dancer bites a child's head, it will bring good fortune, such as "driving away evil spirits, warding off misfortune, improving academic performance, and bringing good health and safety."

After this, the portable shrine will head back to the shrine and be returned.
The golden phoenixes on the portable shrines shine brightly, soaring into the autumn sky, bringing great fortune and blessings to the autumn festival, with boundless love, gratitude and prayers.
