Sunflower Village and Ostrich Club's "Ostrich Sunflower Maze" and "Aigamo Farm" handing out

Wednesday, August 23, 2023

The 37th Himawari Festival" ended on Sunday, August 20. We sincerely appreciate the many people who came to the festival. Thank you very much!

On the following day, Monday, August 21, the "Ostrich Club," a volunteer group for town revitalization in Hokuryu Town, cleaned up the "Ostrich Sunflower Maze" and "Aigamo Farm.

For about two hours from 1:00 p.m., when the sun was shining brightly, we carefully and skillfully carried out various tasks, such as removing the signboard at the ostrich sunflower maze, removing nets at the Aigamo duck farm, and collecting Aigamo ducklings.

This year's ducklings were so energetic and dynamic that it took a long time to catch them.

The 70 or so ducklings will be taken in by a duck specialty store in Asahikawa City and will go to the Asahikawa Zoo.

We would like to thank all the ostrich club members who have been involved in many tasks over the past 20 years, such as laying and collecting sheets for the ostrich sunflower maze, installing signs, and taking care of the ducks. Thank you very much.

Due to the aging of the members, the management of the maze and farm will be taken over by Nekonote (Yoshinori Omae, President, Itaya, Hokuryu-cho) starting next year.

I am really looking forward to seeing the healthy Aigamo ducks and the cute sunflowers in the ostrich-sunflower maze next year.

Thank you very much for all the excitement in the wonderful Sunflower Village this year.
