The 59th HOKUSHO Road Race 2023 - Guidelines
This will be the first time in four years that we have been unable to host this event after a long period of inactivity due to the new coronavirus infection!
Let's enjoy a refreshing run while viewing the clean landscape of Hokuryu Town, the "City of Sunflowers" with the sun on our side, as well as promoting a good harvest and health and deepening mutual friendship from the Sunflower Village.

Please note that you may not be able to participate in the tournament if you register after the above time, except for delays caused by queues at the registration desk on the day of the tournament.

- 10km: General male/female (high school students and above)
- 5km: General men and women (high school students and above) Junior high school men and women (parental consent required)
- 3km: General male/female (high school students and above) elementary school students male/female, no grade limit (parental consent required)
- 3km Parent-child pairs (parents and grandparents): Children must be in 3rd grade or younger, and parent-child pairs must reach the goal hand in hand.
Number of applicants and participation fee
General men and women: 3,000 yen, 3km: 3,500 yen per pair, elementary and junior high school students: 1,000 yen
Except for the "3km Pairs," the total number of participants for all events is expected to be 300, and the application period will be closed when the maximum number of participants is reached.

I agree to the following covenants and will participate in this tournament.
- I hereby pledge to take full responsibility for any accidents that may occur during the tournament.
- False declarations of age or gender, or entries by persons other than the entrant (illegal entries) will not be accepted. The entry will be cancelled.
- The organizer reserves the right to publish videos, photos, articles, and records of the competition on TV, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet, etc.
- No refund of entry fee will be requested after application (except for applications due to capacity limitations).
precautions
I agree to the following terms and conditions and agree to participate in this tournament.
- The organizer will take all possible measures to prevent accidents by deploying voluntary traffic controllers, etc. in key locations, but we ask that participants and supporters also follow traffic rules and cooperate to avoid accidents.
Please drive with caution as it is during the Sunflower Festival and tourists may cross the road. - No cheering accompaniment is allowed, so please cooperate.
- The organizers will not be responsible for any accidents that may occur during the event. Please take out accident insurance and take good care of your health and enjoy the event.
- If the tournament is cancelled on the day of the event due to a typhoon, major earthquake, heavy rain or landslide warning, etc., it will be announced on the "Hokuryu Town Portal. Please note that the entry fee is non-refundable, but prizes will be given at the registration desk. Please note that no refunds will be made for cancellations or no-shows after registration.

Competitors who have exceeded the time limit may be ordered to stop the race midway through the race. In such cases, please follow the instructions of the race officials and get back into your car.
9. how to apply
Postal transfer: Please fill out the attached transfer form and pay the entry fee.
Minors must have a parent or guardian's permission before applying.
Please request a money transfer form from the contact below.
10. application period
From June 1, 2023 (Thursday) to July 7, 2023 (Friday)
Postmarked on the same day for money transfers
Even if you request in advance, the money transfer form will be sent out in June.
After the application period, an acceptance slip will be mailed to all participants.
If you do not receive your application after the application period, please contact the secretariat.
11. commendation
Up to 4th place in each category (extra prize: 10 kg to 2 kg of Hokuryu rice, etc.)
Awards for up to 3rd place in elementary and junior high school divisions
All participants will receive a commemorative towel (elementary and junior high school students will receive a book token).
Book coupons for elementary school students in 3 km pairs
You will receive a certificate of completion on the day of the race.
The "Record List" will be posted after the competition.

About Automatic Measurement
Measurements are taken using a measuring tip. Chips should be fixed to shoelaces.
Parents must wear the chip in the parent-child pairs category.
Chips will be placed in a chip collection box after the finish line. Please be sure to put them in the collection box after finishing the race. (If chips are lost or not returned, the participants will be charged 1,000 yen for the actual cost of the chip.
