This is to inform you of the official document from the Industrial Division of the Hokuryu Town Hall and the Hokuryu Town Sports Association regarding the cancellation of the "34th Sunflower Festival" and the "56th Hokusho Road Race Competition" in 2020.
Cancellation of the 34th Sunflower Festival in 2020
Due to the nationwide spread of the new coronavirus, we have decided to cancel the 34th Himawari Festival, which was scheduled to be held from July 18 (Sat) to August 23 (Sun) this year.
With the national government declaring a state of emergency and the number of people infected with the new type of coronavirus in Hokkaido on the rise, and with no end in sight to the spread of the virus, we have decided to cancel the festival, placing the highest priority on human life and the health and safety of our guests and other concerned parties. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your understanding.
It is with great regret that we have to cancel the festival, but we ask for your understanding that by canceling the festival, we will give the fields that have produced sunflowers every year for over 30 years a break and spend a solid year preparing the soil so that we can produce even better sunflowers than before in the future. We hope to have even better sunflowers in the future.
Cancellation of the 56th Hokusho Road Race in 2020
The 56th Hokusho Road Race, which was scheduled to be held on July 19 (Sun.), 2020, has been cancelled due to the cancellation of the entire Sunflower Festival caused by a new type of coronavirus infection. The 56th HOKUSHO Road Race, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020, has been cancelled.
We are very sorry for the disappointment of those who were considering participating, and we ask for your understanding in this matter.
