The Hokuryu Town "Kuro Sengoku Soybean Fair" is being held at Hotel Paulstar Sapporo (Sapporo City). The period is from Tuesday, March 1 to Thursday, March 31.

Hokuryu Town Kuro Sengoku Soybean Fair

In March 2022, a menu featuring Hokuryu's specialty products, such as Kuro Sengoku soybeans, will be available at the Dining & Bar 179 restaurant for breakfast, dinner, and lunch buffet on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays!

The chef will offer dishes such as Kuro Sengoku Soybean Hiryutou and seasonal vegetable oden for breakfast, Kuro Sengoku Soybean Keema Curry for the lunch buffet, and hot Kuro Sengoku Soybean Hiryutou deep-fried for dinner.

Kurokeshi Soybeans

Kuro Sengoku soybeans, which originated in Hokkaido, are small black soybeans with a black skin and a green interior of about 5 mm. It was cultivated in the old days as feed for military horses due to its high nutritional value. However, due to the difficulty of cultivation, which required more hours of sunlight than other soybeans, our cultivation of Kuro Sanshi Soybeans ceased once in the 1970s. The "miraculous Kuro Sengoku soybeans," which were revived by farmers in Hokuryu Town with only 28 grains, contain high levels of polyphenols and anthocyanins. We sell them as kinako (soybean flour), tea, and other products.
