On September 10 (Fri.), the first shipment of new Sunflower Rice (sake rice, glutinous rice, and Uruchi rice) produced in 2021 was held at JA Kitasorachi Hokuryu Branch Office (Branch Manager Kimitoshi Washio).
Three farmers, Yasunori Watanabe, Keiji Fujii, and Takashi Ishii, brought their new rice to the Agricultural Products Collection and Shipping Facility. This year, there were concerns about low temperatures and lack of rainfall in early spring, but they adjusted the amount of water in the paddy fields, and the rice turned out well.

The Sorachi region accounts for almost 50% of the entire Hokkaido area in terms of both planted area and shipping volume, and has a significant impact on Hokkaido's volume.

In particular, many people have written highly positive comments about the Sunflower Rice of Hokuryu Town. We believe this is the result of the efforts of the Hokuryu Town Office and other related people in disseminating information and other activities.
This year we have been blessed with good weather, so I think the rice is delicious. We hope that as many people as possible will enjoy the rice of Kita Sorachi," said Mr. Kashiwagi, head of the cooperative.
