On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the Hokkaido Shimbun Press (Sapporo) published an article titled "Hokuryu Town and Kuriyama Town Sign Comprehensive Partnership Agreement to Secure Care Workers and Students" on the Hokkaido Shimbun Digital website (dated August 18).
On August 14th (Thursday), the 2025 Hokuryu Town Melon and Watermelon Festival was held, attracting huge crowds with long lines forming from early in the morning! The 350 boxes of "Sunflower Watermelon" were prepared, each with a sweetness of over 12 degrees Brix.
