Minato KOBE 2001 Sunflower Citizens Symposium

The "Symposium" was held at the Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall on August 3, 2001.

The purpose of this event was to wish for the reconstruction of Kobe, which was damaged by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1995. Mr. Yasuhiro Sasaki, who was invited to the event, gave a case study presentation entitled "3.6 million trees in bloom and 260,000 tourists," and Mr. Sako attended as a panelist and explained the case of Hokuryu Town.

The sunflower was chosen as the symbol of a flower that blooms brightly toward the sun at this symposium.

From Kobe with a passion for net art

This sunflower net art was completed by about 300 elementary school children in Kobe City in about two weeks and displayed at the Hanshin-Awaji Disaster Reconstruction Support Center.

The earthquake disaster brought Kobe the support of the people of Hokkaidō and all over Japan, including the hearts of the . Kobe was supported by warm-hearted people from all over Japan, including the people of Hokkaidō.

The net art was created to send out a message of "Thank you" and gratitude with children from Kobe, and to express their passionate feelings, dreaming of the sunflowers swaying in the gentle breeze in the sunshine in the best sunflower village in Japan.

On May 3, 1997, Mr. Arai, a representative of "Himawari no Kikimen" in Kobe City, delivered it to us.
We received cooperation from Mr. Yasuhiro Sasaki of Tatsutopia for the installation of the net art.
