Happy New Year 2024, Chairman Naokazu Nakamura, Hokuryu Town Council

Message

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all residents of the town and their families on the New Year of 2024.

This year is the Year of the Dragon and I have a feeling that it will be a better year for Hokuryu Town. I would also like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued warm guidance and encouragement to the Hokuryu Town Council.

At the 4th regular meeting of 2023, I was nominated by the council members to become the 13th Hokuryu Town Council Chairperson following the retirement of Council Chairperson Sasaki, However, with the help of all the citizens of the town, I will do my best.

Last year, the election for the Town Council was held, and for the third consecutive term, there were no votes cast and no vacancies in the council. The election was announced on January 9 and will be held on January 14, due to the death of Takeshi Matsunaga, who had served for 9 terms and was subject to the one-sixth clause of the Public Office Election Law. We hope that the eight-member limit will be met.

The mayoral election will be held on February 4, and Mayor Yutaka Sano will be stepping down after 12 years at the helm of town government. I would like to thank him for his various activities during this period. The current situation is that we are in the midst of an election campaign, and I hope that those who are running for office will fully publicize their policies for the future of Hokuryu Town, play fair and honest, and that the voters will fully understand their policies and make their decision without abstaining from voting.

The long corona disaster has imposed great restrictions on our daily lives, but since last year's 5th class, things are gradually returning to normal. However, the wounds have not yet healed. We hope that our peaceful life will be restored as soon as possible.

Although there are many problems and issues, let us work together as a community of more than 1,640 townspeople to create a better town.
I would like to begin this New Year's greeting by wishing all of the town's residents a happy and prosperous year ahead.
