Monday, March 3rd is Hinamatsuri, or Girls' Day.

Is the Emperor on the right?

When it comes to setting up the Hina dolls, which one is the Emperor and which one is the Empress?
I hesitated for a moment, then did a search online...

"Kanto Hina dolls are arranged in such a way that the Emperor and Empress are placed to the left and the Empress dolls to the right. This is similar to the arrangement of the bride and groom at a modern wedding.

On the other hand, Kyoto Hina dolls (Kansai Hina dolls) are arranged in the traditional Japanese style (reflecting court culture), with the Emperor and Empress dolls on the right and the Empress dolls on the left.

So we decided to line up in the same position as usual. It somehow felt more natural, so we set it up like this!

Inari and pressed sushi with vinegared Kurosengoku mixed grain rice

Well, decorations aside, this year's Hinamatsuri will feature inari sushi and pressed sushi with vinegared rice made from Kurosengoku mixed grain rice!

Topped with seasonal blanched rape blossoms, pickled lotus root, and butter-grilled salmon belly!

It was served with clam soup and steamed soybeans from Hokuryu Town, which were kindly provided by Takebayashi Yumiko.

We serve delicious food for the "Girls' Day" festival, which brings back the yearning for spring, with boundless love, gratitude and prayers for the healthy growth and happiness of children...
