Comment from Chairman Akimitsu Takada
"For about 30 years now, we have been giving local food to local children so that they can eat it.
"I hope that when children see watermelons on display in supermarkets, they will remember the taste of the 'Sunflower Watermelon' they ate in elementary school. I'm sure the taste of 'Sunflower Watermelon' will stay in their memories for the rest of their lives," said Chairman Takada.
Every year, the sunflower watermelons produced by the Sunflower Watermelon Producers Association are donated to Shinryu Elementary School, Wa Nursery School, Hokuryu Junior High School, and the Hokuryucho Eirakuen special nursing home for the elderly.
With boundless love, gratitude, and prayers, we wish to see local elementary school students savor the delicious sunflower watermelons lovingly cultivated by the producers of Hokuryu Town, with smiles on their faces and a sense of joy and gratitude.
