On Friday, September 6th, the first shipment of new sunflower rice (sake rice and glutinous rice) from the 2024 harvest was made at the JA Kitasorachi Kitaryū Branch (Branch Manager: Washio Kimitoshi).
First shipment of new sunflower rice (sake rice and glutinous rice) from the 2024 harvest
Three farmers, Yasunori Watanabe (brewery rice, Suisei), Keiji Fujii (sticky rice, Hakuryo Mochi), and Fujii Farm Co., Ltd. (sticky rice, Hakuryo Mochi), delivered their new rice to the agricultural product collection and shipping facility.
This year, the first shipment was made two days earlier than last year, and with sufficient rainfall, growth is going well and a bumper crop is expected, with a harvest that is above average.
However, this year's ears are slightly taller, and there has been some damage from them being knocked over by rain and wind.
Due to the nationwide rice shortage, it seems that it is difficult to set the price of new rice.
