The 6th Friend Cup Park Golf Tournament was held on Sunday, July 21st from 8:00am at Himawari Park Golf Course in Hokuryu Town.

6th Friends Cup Park Golf Tournament 2024
Under the strong sunlight with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, 102 participants gathered from all over Hokkaido, and with sunflowers just beginning to bloom as a backdrop, the heated competition unfolded for over three hours.
This tournament is hosted by companies in Hokuryu Town, and is an opportunity for people who love park golf to deepen their friendships.
Luxury prizes will be awarded to the top five men's and women's winners, as well as players with scores from sixth place onwards, through a lottery.

"Today is the 6th Park Friend Tournament.
We are grateful that all 102 participants attended ahead of schedule, enabling us to hold the event early despite the heat.
This tournament is sponsored by three companies: Shiomi Construction Co., Ltd. (Representative: Mitsuyuki Koshida), Yamada Funeral Services Co., Ltd. (Representative: Yuzo Yamada), and Seico Mart Hekisui (Representative: Tadashi Hoshiba).
We were also grateful for the generous donations of prizes provided by the Hokuryu Town Park Golf Association Chairman, Katsuzo Ito, Farm Kawashima (representative: Yasuhiro Kawashima), Farm Iwamoto (representative: Tadashi Iwamoto), and Kiyomi Kitajima.
It is expected to be very hot today, so please be sure to take care to stay hydrated and maintain your health.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest condolences to President Yamada's wife, Taeko, who has been supporting this tournament from the very beginning, and who passed away on the 7th of this month.
"Now, after the referee's instructions and other explanations, we will begin playing. Thank you very much," said Tadashi Hoshiba.
Rules explained by Katsuzo Ito, Chairman of the Hokuryu Town Park Golf Association
"The weather is nice today, so please make sure to stay hydrated and take care to stay healthy.
This tournament will be held in accordance with the rules of the Japan Park Golf Association.
Regarding local rules, if your ball lands in the old cup or in the water intake, please bring it out as close as possible to the cup without getting too close, and then resume play.
If you hit your ball into the pond on the 7th hole of the Dragon Course, you must return to where you entered and resume play as unplayable.
"The limit will be 8. Thank you for your cooperation. That's all," said Chairman Ito, explaining the local rules.

The oldest participant this year is Hokuryu Town resident, Rokusaburo Nakayama (94 years old). Rokusaburo Nakayama is a lively and energetic 94-year-old!
Play 4 courses and 36 holes
On this day, in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, heated play unfolded for over three hours from 8:10am to 11:30pm.
Stay hydrated and play without straining yourself
Everyone encouraged each other, saying things like, "It's hot! Are you okay? Don't push yourself!" and concentrated on playing!
"I play every day, so even when it's hot, my body still moves surprisingly well," he said, unfazed by the heat and completely absorbed in the sport!
"Sometimes I play well, and sometimes I don't, it just depends on how I feel that day, but I just enjoy playing and get along with my body," said a participant with a smile.
We made sure to hydrate ourselves from our water bottles from time to time before playing.
Score calculation
After playing 36 holes, everyone's scores are tallied.

Three players achieved the top score of 102 points! The playoff match was held.
