With gratitude to Sasazushi!

Monday, September 11, 2023

The Shinryu Shrine Autumn Festival will be held in Hokuryu Town on Saturday, September 9th.
This festival celebrates the bountiful harvest of autumn and gives thanks to the gods of nature for their blessings.

Every year on this day, our neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Kitajima Hisashi and Mrs. Kiyomi, make their own sasazushi (bamboo sushi). They kindly shared with us their sacred, heartfelt sasazushi. Thank you so much!!!

The sasazushi is carefully wrapped in local bamboo leaves and contains salmon and mackerel marinated in vinegar.
This is an exquisite sasazushi with just the right amount of vinegar!

I enjoyed the delicious food and was grateful for the bounty of autumn.
Thank you! It was a delicious meal!
