Closing of the Ostrich Sunflower Maze and Aigamo Ranch at Himawari no Sato Ostrich Club

Wednesday, August 23, 2023

The 37th Sunflower Festival ended on Sunday, August 20th. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who came to the event. Thank you very much!!!

The next day, on Monday, August 21st, the Ostrich Club, a volunteer group working to revitalize Hokuryu Town, helped clean up the Ostrich Sunflower Maze and the Mallard Duck Farm.

For about two hours starting at 1pm under the harsh sunlight, the workers carefully and efficiently carried out a variety of tasks, including removing the sign from the Ostrich Sunflower Maze, removing the nets from the duck farm, and collecting the ducks.

This year's ducks were very energetic and active, so it took a while to catch them.

The 70 or so ducks will then be taken to a duck specialty store in Asahikawa City and taken to Asahikawa Zoo.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at the Ostrich Club who has been involved in the many tasks over the past 20 years, such as laying and collecting sheets for the Ostrich Sunflower Maze, setting up signs, and caring for the Aigamo ducks.

As the members are all getting older, the operation of the maze and ranch will be taken over by Nekonote Co., Ltd. (Itaya, Hokuryu Town, Representative Director: Omae Yoshinori) from next year.

I am truly looking forward to meeting the energetic ducks and the cute sunflowers in the Ostrich Sunflower Maze next year.

Thank you for the many moving experiences at the wonderful Sunflower Village this year.
