[May 2024] Build an English translation (multilingual) system for the Hokuryu Town Portal and spread the appeal of Hokuryu Town to the world!

Recently, mass media from around the world have been reporting on and broadcasting the wonderful things about Japan, and viewers who have been moved by what they see are increasingly spreading their praise for Japan on social media.

Therefore, we have created an English translation (multilingual) system on the Hokuryu Town Portal, with the aim of spreading the charm of Hokuryu Town, which is filled with the spirit of harmony and compassion, and spreading ``joyful empathy'' throughout the world.

Until now, I have been using the WordPress plugin "GTranslate," which translates only while the page is displayed. This time, I used the plugin "TranslatePress," which creates and saves English (multilingual) files, and the high-precision translation software "DeepL API."

Currently, the site is available in English, as well as Chinese (Hong Kong and Taiwan), which were the most popular languages in 2023. Proper nouns may not be translated properly, but we plan to make corrections as they arise.

Approximately 80% of visitors to the Hokuryu Town Portal come from search engines. We hope that the creation of this English translation (multilingual) system will help the site appear in overseas search engines.

I hope that the charm of Hokuryu Town and the caring spirit of its residents will be conveyed to the whole world.
