The "Sasadango Making" activity, which began in 1992 (Heisei 4), is now in its 32nd year.

The membership is aging, with most members over 70 years old, and there are concerns about whether the association will continue in the future.

All ingredients are sourced from Hokuryu Town, including natural mugwort and bamboo leaves that grow wild in the town.

Members gather mugwort that grows wild in the local area in early spring and bamboo leaves in summer. All ingredients are produced in Hokuryu Town, including glutinous rice "Nanatsuboshi" and glutinous rice "Hakuchomochi," as well as azuki beans produced in Hokuryu Town.

Handmade with love

All of the products, including boiled red beans, steamed mugwort rice cakes, and wrapped in bamboo leaves, are handmade with love and sincerity by members at the Palm Food and Agriculture Workshop, a processing center.

These exquisite bamboo dumplings are packed with mugwort and bean paste, and are soft and gently sweet!!!
