On Tuesday, March 5th, a craft recreation called "Hariko's Dragon" was held at the Hokuryu Town Senior Citizens Welfare Center as part of the "Cosmos Club Activities" run by the Hokuryu Town Social Welfare Council (Chairman Yamamoto Tsuyoshi).
Cosmos Club Activities (Hokuryu Town Social Welfare Council)
Cosmos Club is a project run by the Hokuryu Town Social Welfare Council.
"Life support" and "care prevention" activities are provided to those who have been determined to require level 1 or level 2 support in their care certification.
Activity details
Specific activities include health checks, lifestyle consultations, bathing services (assisted by home helpers), daily movement training (voice training, singing, stretching exercises, core training, muscle training), cherry blossom viewing in the town (Konpira Park, Himawari no Sato), and shopping tours in the town (roadside stations, Hokuryu Onsen shops, etc.).
The Cosmos Club currently has 11 members and meets twice a week from 10am to 3pm.
My schedule for the afternoon was to take a nap, then work on my artwork for about an hour, play games, and then take the bus home at 3pm.
Making "Hariko no Tatsu"
The people who participated in the craft making on the day were all very energetic and cheerful, some of them over 90 years old.
The craftsmanship this time is "Hariko no Tatsu." In keeping with the zodiac, we will make a round "Hariko no Tatsu" that resembles a tumbler doll.
Last year, the zodiac sign was the rabbit.
Attach the parts
"Hariko no Tatsu" is a piece of work that uses a gachapon capsule as a base, pasting washi paper around it to create the face, mane, mustache, horns, etc. of the dragon.
Once all the parts have been glued together, use colored pencils or markers to draw patterns such as the pupils and the flow of the hair on the mane.
The work involves selecting a washi paper pattern, tearing it up, pasting it, painting it, and repeating other detailed tasks. This stimulates various physical abilities, such as fingertip movement, the sense of balance required to glue the parts together, and the sense of color selection.
Enjoy creating artwork while chatting
Everyone worked hard, moving their fingers and chatting while having fun creating their creations!
With the help of the helpers, the work continues slowly and carefully.
Fun conversations flying around!!!
"It won't stand out unless you use a darker colored pen."
"What color should I get?"
"When you put eyes on the dragon, it becomes lively."
"I can't draw patterns well"
"Your beard is crooked."
"The spiral pattern is difficult."
"I'm wondering whether to add a pattern or not."
"If I was a little younger, I could have done it better."
"I made something strange." "It's good, it's cute."
"It came rolling around."
"It turned out great."
"It's cute" "It's a girl and boy pattern"
"The mane was the hardest part."
"It was my first time doing all the pasting and writing, so it was all really difficult."
A wonderful selection of works
Everyone is almost finished!!! There are so many wonderful creations on display.
It moves like a tumbler doll, swaying and rolling around!
The cute, round Tatsu-san sways back and forth, looking like a Daruma doll that looks like it might fall over but never does!
The super cute Hariko Tatsus dressed in colorful costumes are lovely and gently swaying, soothing to the soul.
The golden dragon god enshrined at the entrance to the building watches over everything.
To the lovely "Hariko no Tatsu" that is carefully handmade with everyone's heart,
With boundless love, gratitude and prayers...
