The projection mapping video was created by seven third- and fourth-year students from the Department of Media Studies at Hokkaido Information University's School of Information and Media Studies (Ebetsu City) under the guidance of Associate Professor Keitaro Oshima and Associate Professor Dai Kawahara. The video, which lasts for 12 minutes, is repeatedly projected onto the wall of the roadside station Sunflower Park Hokuryu.
The video content includes a dynamic animation of a girl beating a drum to the sound of the drums, 360-degree camera and drone footage of the Himawari Village and the four seasons of Hokuryu Town, and shadow puppet-like footage with the junior high school song playing as a music box melody in the background, all of which are full of immersive footage that is projected one after another.
It was a very chilly night in Hokuryu Town, where the first snow fell that day.
It's a captivating 12 minutes of magnificent fusion of wonderful sound, stunning images and the pictures on the building walls!
A chilling night time...

Planning: Hokuryu Town Regional Revitalization Cooperation Volunteers Nobuyuki Murakami and Yui Sasaki
This is the second event following last year, planned by Hokuryu Town Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team members Murakami Nobuyuki and Sasaki Yui.
Words from Associate Professor Dai Kawahara, Faculty of Information and Media Studies, Hokkaido Information University
"The members have changed since last year, so the video has a different feel. It includes 3DCG of Himawari Saki, making it a very interesting video.
Also, as a new initiative, we are creating a video using the Hokuryu Junior High School school song. We believe this is the first attempt to create a video to go along with the school song. We hope you will look forward to all of them.
I think all the students worked hard to create it."
A talk by Nobuyuki Murakami, a local revitalization volunteer from Hokuryu Town
"This event was held in October last year, but this year it's November and the cold weather has arrived, and today was the first snowfall, so we were worried, but the snow has stopped.
As a member of the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team, I would like to continue proposing and moving forward with things that have never been done before in Hokuryu Town."
Students from Hokkaido Information University preparing for the projection
Students from Hokkaido Information University entered Hokuryu Town around 2:00 p.m. on the day and made preparations for the projection to begin at 5:00 p.m.

A word from students of Hokkaido Information University's Department of Media Studies
- I created an animation of a girl playing the drums.
- This time, I used a technique called motion graphics to create it.
(Motion graphics are animated images that add movement to illustrations and text.) - We created a motion that combined live-action footage and scale.
- We created the video using AI.
- We filmed the four seasons of Hokuryu Town using 360-degree cameras and drones.
- We have made a video of a song that is familiar to everyone in Hokuryu Town, so please enjoy it with a nostalgic feeling.
- I made the Hokuryu Town character Himawari Saki-chan into 3D and included her in the video. I hope you enjoy it.
With Hokko Construction Co., Ltd. providing the video, audio and power supplies, we're all set!
