On Thursday, September 9th, the Kurosengoku Business Cooperative Association donated 4kg of Kurosengoku soy meat (minced meat) to the Kita Sorachi Area School Lunch Association in the reception room of Hokuryu Town Hall. In response to the donation, the Kita Sorachi Area School Lunch Association sent a letter of thanks to the Kurosengoku Business Cooperative Association.
The mapo tofu made with Kurosengoku soy meat, which was served in school lunches in June this year, was a big hit with the children. This donation was made possible by Chairman Takada's passionate desire to have more children enjoy Kurosengoku soy meat.
The donated soy meat will be provided as mapo tofu in approximately 2,000 school lunches at 16 elementary and junior high schools in one city and four towns in Kita-Sorachi (Fukagawa City, Chishibetsu Town, Uryu Town, Hokuryu Town, and Numata Town) on Monday, September 13th next week.

Thank you speech: Superintendent of Education Yoshimura Masaaki
"Thank you very much for your donation of Kurosengoku soy meat to the Kita Sorachi Area School Lunch Association.
Kurosengoku soy meat is highly nutritious and I believe it will be extremely useful for children's growth and nutritional education. I will treasure it. The Kurosengoku soy meat we received this time will be used to make mapo tofu with Kurosengoku soybeans in the school lunch on Monday, September 13th.
In the future, the Kita Sorachi Area School Lunch Association will strive to provide safe, secure and delicious school lunches by incorporating as many local agricultural products as possible.
I would like to express my gratitude for the donation received directly from the Chairman today. Thank you very much."
A speech by Yukio Takada, Chairman of the Kurosengoku Business Cooperative Association
"Kurosengoku soy meat mapo tofu was added to the school lunch menu in June this year.
The children loved it and honestly described it as "tasty, like minced meat." Our desire to encourage children to have seconds led to this donation.
The story behind the birth of Kurosengoku Soy Meat
The Kurosengoku soy meat development effort began around February 2020 with a discussion with then Deputy Director Yasuto Noshirogawa (Deputy Director of the Sunflower Project Promotion Office at Hokuryu Town Hall), and was completed around November to December.
There are no soy meat processing plants in Hokkaido, and none in the Kanto region either. At that time, through an introduction from the Hokkaido Research Institute, Food Processing Research Center (Ebetsu City), I met Yokomizo Mako, CEO of Zensai Co., Ltd. (Sapporo City), a vegetarian food manufacturer that handles soy meat. With Yokomizo's introduction, I was able to take the soy meat to a factory in Gifu Prefecture, where it became possible to manufacture soy meat from Kurosengoku soybeans.
Future developments
In addition to minced Kurosengoku soy meat, we are currently developing and selling sliced versions.
Additionally, Tanzen Technical Products Co., Ltd. (Zenibako, Otaru City) is currently developing a retort curry made with Kurosengoku soy meat.
Furthermore, we are also considering commercializing processed products made from the oil produced during the production of Kurosengoku soy meat.
Our thoughts on Kurosengoku soybeans: "Safe, secure, and naturally healthy"
We believe it is important to provide additive-free, safe and reliable Hokkaido ingredients to children who will be responsible for the future of the world. Kurosengoku soybeans (bean rice) and Kurosengoku germinated natto have been used in school lunches.
We hope that the various dishes made with Kurosengoku soy meat will be used in a wide variety of ways.
"We will continue to promote the deliciousness and appeal of Kurosengoku soybeans, striving for safety, security, and health," said Chairman Takada with great confidence.
Hokuryu Town Board of Education, Superintendent of Education Kazushi Arima
With boundless love, gratitude and prayers for the nutritious, safe and secure Kurosengoku soybeans, a source of health and vitality for the children who will lead the future...
