On Monday, May 18, 2020, sunflower seeds from Hokuryu Town have blossomed into 50,000 sunflowers at Sunset Farm, a chrysanthemum farm in Gima, Yomitan Village, Okinawa Prefecture. At night, the farm is lit up using the same light bulbs used to grow chrysanthemums.

FY2020 [COVID-19 Countermeasures] Hokuryu Town Disaster Prevention Radio: Reduced service of the Rumoi Express train, Himawari Park Golf Course to open from 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 16th, Sunflower Park Hokuryu Onsen to operate as usual, town facilities closed until the end of this month, and information about the special fixed-amount grant.
