This year marks the 11th year of the solar illumination "Setsuya Luminarie" at the home of Setsuya Suzuki in Hokuryu Town. The theme for 2025 is "Family." Heartwarming artwork and fantastic lights sparkling in the night sky decorate the garden. The morning glories, with 600 flowers in bloom during the day, are also a sight to behold. This year marks the 11th year for the solar illuminations at the home of Setsuya Suzuki (73 years old) in the Hekisui district of Hokuryu Town. With each passing year, the illuminations have evolved and developed, and will once again shine with a brilliant and fantastical glow in 2025.

A story by Setsuya Suzuki

"This year's theme is 'Family'! In my home, everyone is family, both humans and animals. This year's picture is a work by a cat friend who also painted it last year, and now that I have a grandchild, I asked for a picture that expresses the warm love of family, and this is the picture that was completed," says Suzuki with a smile.

"At first, I was planning to light the picture with lights, but the picture is so beautiful that I decided to add some color to the background so that people can appreciate it even in the daytime.

Also, the morning glories are blooming beautifully this year. Their vines stretch out to over 5 meters, producing 500 to 600 flowers every morning. The morning glories during the day and the illuminations at night each paint a different picture, so we hope you will enjoy both.

Light art filled with love

The artwork, which depicts this year's theme of "family," changes its appearance between day and night. At night, colorful lights flow across the garden, transforming it into a harmonious, fantastical space.

This year's exhibition will be up until roughly the end of September. We'll start packing up in October. It will take about a month to pack up," said Suzuki Setsuya with a smile.
