Sanitas Garden began experimental cultivation of bean sprouts using dozens of varieties of beans in 2013. The final product they arrived at was the Kurosengoku soybean!

The seeds are Kurosengoku soybeans purchased from the Kurosengoku Business Cooperative Association in Hokkaido.

For cultivation, natural hot water is piped into the greenhouse and used as a heat source. The temperature of the hot water is kept constant at 22 degrees throughout the year, which is said to be the ideal temperature for growing bean sprouts (see the Sanitas Garden website).
