The New Year's party for the Hekisui Neighborhood Association Senior Citizens Club, Hekisui Chomei-kai, was held at Sunflower Park Hokuryu Onsen from 10:30 on Sunday, January 12th.

Hekisui Neighborhood Association Elderly Club “Hekisui Chomeikai” New Year Party
Approximately 20 members participated, and everyone came together to start the new year in a cheerful and harmonious atmosphere.

"Happy New Year. As we welcome the new year, I look forward to working with you again this year.
Today, for the first event, we have invited Mr. and Mrs. Terauchi.
Last August, the "Sorachi District Kita Sorachi Sub-District Small Block Training Session" was held in Hokuryu Town, attended by leaders from the Senior Citizens' Club Federations of one city and five towns in the Kita Sorachi Sub-District. During the training session, Mr. Terauchi spoke about the current status of activities in Hokuryu Town, particularly the town's elderly care and public facilities, and about the Hokuryu Town Portal, which he runs.
I think it deeply moved many people, and it also gave me a new perspective, as I was surprised to see that something like this was happening in Hokuryu Town.
"Today, I would like everyone to take another look at the introduction to Hokuryu Town that Mr. and Mrs. Terauchi are sending out to the world, and to gain a new understanding of the town. Thank you very much to Mr. Terauchi for responding to our request so early in the new year. I look forward to listening to the presentation, so I look forward to working with you," said Chairman Kawada.

"Happy New Year everyone.
At the regular general meeting held at the end of December last year, I was promoted to the position of neighborhood association president, so I would like to ask for your continued support throughout the year.
Last year was a hot year. There was a rice shortage, which was a bit of a surprise, but in the fall there was an abundant harvest. What's more, rice prices were at their highest in 30 years, so it was a happy year for farmers.
This year is the Year of the Snake, which is said to be a year of repeated regeneration and growth. Snakes are disliked by many people because of their appearance, but in Shinto they are considered one of the most grateful animals, as they are messengers of the gods. Furthermore, because they grow by shedding their skin, they are a symbol of immortality.
I hope that everyone in the neighborhood association will stay healthy throughout the year. I would like to conclude my greetings by praying for good health, happiness, and a bountiful harvest for everyone this year.

Noboru Terauchi, operator of the Hokuryu Town Portal, gave an explanation about the Hokuryu Town Portal.
"I would like to explain what is happening on the Hokuryu Town Portal. The Hokuryu Town Portal is an internet site that chronicles events in Hokuryu Town. It has been 15 years since the site was launched. It contains tens of thousands of articles, and is filled with the history of the activities of the townspeople."

"Hokuryu Town in Kita-Sorachi, Hokkaido, is a town of approximately 1,600 residents who cherish the spirit of 'food is life' and deliver safe and secure food. Hokuryu Town Portal has been run by a husband and wife team for 15 years. The site uses text, photos and videos to share the inspirational stories of the 'spirit of harmony, compassion and joy' that Hokuryu residents cherish, which they encounter in their daily lives in Hokuryu Town.
