The purpose of this comprehensive partnership agreement is to promote mutual collaboration and respond to local needs, thereby revitalizing the region, improving welfare services for residents, and promoting health.
Since last year (2023), Kitaryū Town has been implementing initiatives that utilize health support services such as the walking app "Link Cross ALC" provided by Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd.
Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd. has a vision of becoming a "health support company" and is offering "Insurhealth" as a new value that combines the original functions of insurance with health support functions.
The two companies agreed on the "health promotion initiatives" of Hokuryu Town and the "establishment of a health support company" of Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd., which led to this agreement.
Areas of collaboration include promoting health, creating safe and secure cities, SDGs, and lifelong learning.

At Sunflower Village
exchange of opinions
The precious bond of "Sunflower"
The name "Sunflower" was added to the name of Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd. 29 years ago (since 1997). Because of the "sunflower" connection, Mayor Sasaki had been considering entering into a partnership with Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd. for over 20 years.
Message from Mayor Sasaki
"Hokuryu Town has been a town that produces safe and secure food for 40 to 50 years. That is its selling point. In line with this, the town has a history of developing itself, having grown sunflowers for 44 years.
The town's history and origins matched with Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd.'s role as a company that promotes health, and we decided to work together. Walking together means walking together with the townspeople, and we have a strong desire to do so with Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd. We hope that today will be an opportunity for us to continue our relationship for a long time to come.
We are very grateful that a concrete proposal has been made in the form of a walk rally, and the townspeople are very excited about it.
Message from Mr. Mitsuaki Ito, General Manager of Hokkaido
"Our future initiatives include education to improve literacy in financial and health matters. We would like to hold seminars on various occasions, regardless of age. We are holding these seminars nationwide, at elementary, junior high, high school, and university levels.
We hope to hold this event in Hokuryu Town, as well as in elementary and junior high schools. We would like to provide practical, specialized knowledge, such as health literacy that is unique to the elderly.
What we provide to our customers is insurance in case of an emergency, but as a "health support company," we aim to extend the healthy lifespan of as many people as possible.
As the head of the Hokkaido Regional Headquarters, my major mission is to determine what I can do for the people of Hokkaido.
We believe that our number one job is to spread the knowledge we have.
"I think that an insurance company entering into an agreement with a local government will become the first model pattern for health promotion. We aim to build various things together and evolve this model as we move forward," said Director Ito.
Explanation by Ms. Ayano Homma, Chief of Sapporo Branch 3
"The reason for this agreement is the affinity between our company name, 'Himawari', and the 'Himawari' in Hokuryu Town. We proposed to them to see if we could partner in some way to support health.
Our walking app allows you to set up a local course. Create a course around the sunflower fields in Himawari no Sato, and enjoy walking along the course while checking your location with GPS location information. The app also has the ability to manage your steps.
This time, the "Sunflower Walk Rally" will be held over three days during the Sunflower Festival, from Thursday, August 8th to Saturday, August 10th, from 10:00 to 16:00. Those who walk through the Sunflower Village using the dedicated app and reach the finish line will be able to spin a gachapon machine and receive a gift. "The distance is 1.6km (about a 20-minute walk)," explained Chief Homma.
"Sunflowers" create wonderful connections!
A comprehensive partnership agreement was concluded with the aim of creating a town that is as bright, healthy, and vibrant as a sunflower!
With boundless love, gratitude, and prayers for the bright and shining future of Hokuryu Town and Sompo Himawari Life Insurance Co., Ltd.
