Words from the Editor-in-Chief
The Hokuryu Town Sunflower Tourism Association (formerly the Hokuryu Town Tourism Association) was established in 1972 and has been dedicated to the development of local tourism ever since. Thanks to the support and cooperation of the townspeople and other stakeholders, we have been able to continue on to this day. This commemorative magazine looks back on 50 years of history and talks about our outlook for the future. In compiling it, we kept the following three points in mind:
- Communicating 50 years of history in an easy-to-understand and detailed manner
- Expressing gratitude to those involved
- Expressing determination for the future
In compiling this commemorative magazine, we collected materials (Hokuryu Town History Volumes 2 and 3, Hokuryu Town Agricultural Cooperative History, town newsletter, construction records, assembly minutes, town budget and financial statements, past newspaper articles, etc.). Over the course of 50 years, some documents have been lost, and some fact-checking was insufficient, but looking back over 50 years of history and considering the outlook for the future was an extremely valuable experience. We hope that this commemorative magazine will contribute to the further development of the Hokuryu Town Sunflower Tourism Association.
