Mayor Yasuhiro Sasaki's July inspection of Hokuryu Town took place from 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5th.
The group visited Hokuryu Town Yawara Nursery School, Shinryu Elementary School, and a farm in the Ryusei district. They had planned to visit Hokuryu Junior High School, but were unable to do so due to the principal's absence due to a Junior High School Athletic Federation-related event.
Moving on to the Ryusei area, we inspected farmland that had been damaged by birds and animals.
Hokuryu Town Yawara Nursery School
We visited Wa Nursery School, which was designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma and opened in April 2020.
The mayor is very popular with kindergarteners!
At Hokuryu Town Yawara Nursery School, the children gathered in surprise at Mayor Sasaki's sudden visit!
They cheered with joy, "Wow!" and surrounded Mayor Sasaki, all smiles and excited!!!
Discussion with Director Yasuhiro Sugiyama
The director, Yasuhiro Sugiyama, and the students exchanged various opinions on the current situation of the nursery school, as well as issues and solutions regarding school lunches, English classes, crime prevention, etc. "You are always welcome to come to the nursery without an appointment," said Director Sugiyama.
Shinryu Elementary School
At Shinryu Elementary School, Principal Sadao Kamata and Vice Principal Goji Kitagawa welcomed us warmly despite their busy schedules, and we had an exchange of opinions with Mayor Sasaki.
Principal Kamata, Vice Principal Kitagawa, and Mayor Sasaki all worked well together and engaged in cheerful conversation filled with smiles.
The conversation was lively and included a variety of topics, including the students' baseball games, events at Himawari no Sato, and plans to relocate public facilities. Mayor Sasaki is in regular contact with the town.

Ryusei District Farm Inspection
The Ryusei area has a lot of abandoned farmland that has become difficult to manage due to the aging of farmers and a lack of successors. There are also many cases of deer damaging agricultural produce!
These fields contain a lot of stones, and further studies will be conducted on how to regenerate the wasteland.

With boundless love, gratitude, and prayers for the bright, joyful, and sparkling world that the children of the next generation will envision...
