Establishment of Hokuryu Town Tourism Association
Establishment of Hokuryu Town Tourism Association
The Hokuryu Town Tourism Association was established on July 4, 1972, with Yoshio Komatsu as its chairman. The basic activities of the association at the time of its establishment were as follows:
- Regional tourism development and facility improvement
- Publication and distribution of regional tourism publications
- Tourism road and transportation research and development
- Promotion of tourism events
The hiking trail from Shinsuna Pass to Sandan Falls was maintained by mowing the grass until 2002, but is no longer maintained due to the low number of people using the trail.
The main project of the Tourist Association at that time was the holding of the Cherry Blossom Festival at Konpirayama Park, which was held until the second Cherry Blossom Festival in 1991. The Tourist Association also implemented the Flower-filled Campaign and flowerbed competitions as part of environmental beautification activities.
