The Hokkaido Shimbun Digital website, run by the Hokkaido Shimbun newspaper (Sapporo), has published an article (dated February 7th) entitled "Subsidy rate for earthquake-resistant construction works in Hokkaido: 20% not using new national system and usage low." We would like to introduce this article to you.

The article states, "Some municipalities do not have a subsidy system at all. The reason given is that they have public housing (which has been made earthquake-resistant) for the elderly (Hokuryu Town, Sorachi District), but there are also municipalities that say that there is no demand from residents, or that they had a subsidy system but stopped it because it was hardly used."
