Greetings from the Superintendent General: Superintendent General Yutaka Sano (Mayor of Hokuryu Town)
"I am truly pleased that the historic and traditional Hokuryu Fire Drill is being held here today as a grand event to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Hokuryu Fire Brigade, with many distinguished guests from within and outside the town.
We would like to express our deepest respect and gratitude to all the members of the fire brigade, who, under the command of Captain Nakayama, have been working tirelessly day and night in their preventive firefighting duties in the community to protect the lives and property of the townspeople, in light of this honorable fire drill.
We look forward to the results of the daily training being fully demonstrated and the event being held in a grand manner.
In recent years, abnormal weather has become more prevalent, with natural disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, tornadoes, heavy rains, and landslides causing endless damage and resulting in the loss of many lives and property.
Fire departments are being called upon to respond to a variety of situations in line with the times, including not only everyday disasters but also natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, vehicle accidents, and emergencies related to civil protection, and expectations for them are growing.
Last year, Hokuryu Town also worked to strengthen its firefighting equipment and facilities, including updating its command and public relations vehicle, introducing disaster drones, and installing two earthquake-resistant fire water tanks.
In the event of a disaster, we ask that all our staff members respond quickly by utilizing the latest firefighting equipment and the skills they have acquired through training, and fulfill the expectations of the local residents.
In conclusion, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Fire Department Support Association and traffic safety instructors who cooperated with this drill, as well as to the members of the Hokuryu Junior High School Brass Band and the Yawara Nursery School Junior Fire Department Club who added color to today's drill.
"I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes to all of you who have been kind enough to attend today for continued good health and success. This concludes my speech for the exercise. This concludes the session," said Commander Sano in his address.

"I would like to express my gratitude to all the members of the unit for fully demonstrating the results of their daily training, despite their regular jobs, and for achieving the expected results in this commemorative exercise marking the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Hokuryu Fire Brigade.

We, the members of the fire brigade, are determined to use this exercise as an opportunity to further improve our skills and face disasters in order to meet the expectations of our residents.
